The Norfolk State University Police Department recently welcomed five new officers to its ranks. The new officers — David Adams, Robert Brown III, Raymond Jarmon, Nakea Registe and Darius Whitaker — recently graduated from the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy in Newport News.
As part of the four-and-a-half month training, the officers covered more than 3,000 objectives that included defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations/control and firearms certification. “The five new officers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in law enforcement to the department,” said NSU Deputy Police Chief Derrick Boyd, “with the addition of these officers, our presence on campus will be increased.”
The five officers bring the total number of officers in the department, including command staff, to 23. The next academy class begins June 4 and 3 more recruits are tentatively scheduled to go through the training.
