Academic Effectiveness

The Office of Academic Effectiveness is responsible for promoting and nurturing a wide range of academic activities in the Division of Academic Affairs, as well as the broader educational goals of Norfolk State University. The Office works closely with students, faculty, staff, administrators and external constituents to promote student success.

The Office primarily assists the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs with matters pertaining to student learning and student success. Therefore, the Office of Academic Effectiveness directly oversees the functions of: Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation, Testing Services, and the Quality Enhancement Plan.

The Office supports the General Education Council in its charge to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the general education curriculum; manages the submission of all curriculum changes (including courses and programs) for approval by the University Curriculum Committee and the General Education Council; administers all official curriculum information for the University and ensures the integrity of information and electronic systems that support course and program management. The Office provides support for new program development and revision of existing programs and liaises with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) on all curricular matters.
