Nestled right on the Norfolk State University campus, the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center is one of the area's premier concert halls and is known as a great local place to see concerts and theatre. The Wilder Performing Arts Center looks to promote the diverse arts scene and entertain NSU students and the community.

About

The L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center is a 56,247 square foot building located at the entrance of the Norfolk State University campus in Norfolk, Virginia. The Center was constructed in 1996 and is comprised of a 1,500 seat, state-of-the-art concert and performance hall, three (3) large meeting or flexible-use rooms, large stage and ornate foyer. The Center is classified as an education and general facility, which means that is primary purpose is to support the educational activities of Norfolk State University. All other general university activities and external use are secondary to the primary purpose.

The L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center is a facility of Norfolk State University and as such, is governed by the laws and applicable policies and procedures of Commonwealth of Virginia. The Center is a non-union house. For additional information and pricing see the Policies and Procedures.

Planning an Event

The L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center is available for performances, private functions, and corporate events. The center features several elegant spaces that can accommodate your special event. These spaces are perfect for:

  • Parking is located in the Presidential Parkway, Lots # 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
  • Accessible patrons should park in lot 1.
  • There is no charge.
