Community Crime Map

The Norfolk State University Police Department now provides a new way for the public to stay informed about crime on and around the campus of Norfolk State University. Lexis Nexis Community Crime Map analyzes and maps incident data and allows citizens to sign up for crime alerts.

About

Community Crime Map automatically syncs with the Norfolk State University Police Department records system to keep crime information updated online. It displays incidents on a map, grid and analytics dashboard along with some basic information about the incidents, including the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date and time.

Types of Crimes Displayed

In order to protect our citizens privacy, not all types of incidents are displayed on the public map (i.e. sexual offense, domestic abuse, juvenile crimes, civil paper services).

Sign up for Alerts

Norfolk State University faculty/staff and students can view a map and grid with all the crimes in the area and sign up for neighborhood watch reports that automatically email a breakdown of recent crime activity.  Click on the map, go to the website and click on "Sign up for crime alerts" in the upper right corner.
