Biography:
Mrs. May Hou is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science of Norfolk State University. She received her BS in Mathematics in National Normal University and later received her MS in Computer Science from University of Iowa. She has an extensive industry experience. She has worked with Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. as a system engineer to maintain IBM 360 main frame computer and Eastern Computer, Inc. as a software analyst to develop a multi-linguistic OS for personal computers.

She started teaching at Norfolk State University in 1988. She has been an AP computer Science examination reader/table leader for over 10 years and has been working closely with local AP computer science teachers to promote computer science in local high schools. She understands very much learning attitudes and special needs of minority and female students in learning computer science. She also taught a three-day Python Bootcamp at NSU and completed a SANS cybersecurity training course in 2016.

Mrs. May Hou loves teaching and how to enhance effectiveness in Computer Science teaching and learning is her life-long career interest. She has made a great effort to bring the collaborative learning and graph animation into the classroom to foster a more interactive learning environment. The results of these efforts have been presented in the conferences. She is also dedicated to promote online teaching and learning. She is a Certified Online Instructor (COI) since 2013 and (QM) Quality Matter certified online curriculum reviewer since 2016.
