International Student Services

mission

The mission of O.A.S.I.S. (Office of Accessibility Services/International Student Services) & Assistive Technology Laboratory (AT Lab) is to promote the academic success of students with disabilities and international students through high-quality educational assistance, leveling the playing field, and providing services and accommodations. O.A.S.I.S. & the AT Lab contributes to our ethnically and culturally diverse campus while eliminating barriers and minimizing legal risks to ensure compliance with requirements for access to the students and the University. O.A.S.I.S. & the AT Lab provides leadership and guidance to enhance understanding and support; and promote academic and personal growth and development as a daily functionality.

The Office also contributes to Norfolk State University's intellectual and cultural diversity through its service to the international student promotion of international education and intercultural understanding. To accomplish its mission, International Student Services generates required documents and processes petitions for nonimmigrant students; provides advisory and counseling services; serves as a liaison between the student and university departments, U.S. and foreign government agencies and the greater community; facilitates the assimilation of international students in the larger Norfolk community; acts as a referral source for students, staff, faculty, and the community; and provides support services and education to enhance student success.
