Clementine S. Cone
Executive Assistant to the President for University Compliance
Clementine S. Cone is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia. She served as the financial Vice President at Virginia State University, Norfolk State University, and several other institutions. She is a seasoned financial administrator with more than thirty years of experience. Ms. Cone has a Master of Arts in Management from Regent University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Hampton University (Institute). She is a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Society of Accountants.
Special Assistant to the President for Human Resources, Training and Development
Mona Adkins-Easley comes to Norfolk State University with over 17 years of experience in higher education. She served as the Associate Vice President for Human Resources for 15 years at Virginia State University and prior to coming to NSU, Mona worked two years for the U.S Department of Agriculture where she was responsible for providing leadership to the Higher Education Institutions (HEI) initiative which was composed of the 1890 Historically Black Land Grant Universities, the 1994 Land Grant Tribal Colleges and the Hispanic Serving Institutions. She has worked with diverse populations throughout the United States including university presidents, students, researchers and farmers.
Beginning her service as an employee of the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1980, Mona worked for the Virginia General Assembly for 10 years and the Southside Virginia Training Center for five years. Receiving a gubernatorial appointment in 1990, Mona served as the second Director of the Virginia Council on Human Rights until 1994.
Mona is an alumnus of NSU, receiving her undergraduate degree in Economics in 1978. She holds a Masters of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and has done doctoral work at VCU. She has an adult daughter, Kaci.
Assistant to the President for Partnerships and University Outreach
Paula Gentius is the Assistant to the President for Partnerships and University Outreach. She is responsible for developing and promoting significant external partnerships with community, corporate, government and social sector constituents that support Norfolk State University’s (NSU) strategic goals and advance the university’s public profile on regional, state and national levels. She assists the president in expanding and strengthening his external leadership role by strategically and pro-actively facilitating relationships and partnerships that advance the university, the city of Norfolk and the Hampton Roads region. Ms. Gentius also provides assistance to the Rector and members of the Norfolk State University Board of Visitors in successfully performing their fiduciary responsibilities relative to NSU. She served as the Assistant to the NSU Board of Visitors and the President prior to this position.
As a gubernatorial appointee under three Virginia Governors, Ms. Gentius served as an Executive Policy Advisor, Interim Executive Director, Deputy Director and Confidential Policy Advisor for a state agency in Richmond, Virginia. Ms. Gentius also served in the City of Detroit as the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and Telecommunications & Compliance Manager of a regulatory agency overseeing the City’s cable franchise and telecommunications operations. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, a Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mass Media Arts and Public Relations. She is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in Educational Management from Hampton University.
April T. Allbritton
Office Manager/Board Liaison
As Office Manager/Board Liaison, Mrs. Allbritton provides support to the NSU Board of Visitors and facilitates the workflow in the Office of the President. She has been with the President’s Office since July 2000. Prior to that she worked for the Office of Legislative Affairs and the NSU Athletics Foundation for approximately six years.
As a member of the NSU Association of Educational Office Professionals, she has served as Vice President, Administrative Liaison to the President and chaired numerous committees. Mrs. Allbritton is also a member of the State and National Associations of Educational Office Professionals. On the national level, she has served as a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee, the Higher Education Committee, the Public Relations and Publications Committee and the Foundation Scholarship Committee. Mrs. Allbritton attended Norfolk State University.
Brenda J. Bennett
Mrs. Bennett serves as the scheduler in the Office of the President. She manages the daily appointment calendar and coordinates all travel for the President and the Chief of Staff. Mrs. Bennett also provides oversight of the president’s social functions.
Mrs. Bennett has been employed with the Commonwealth of Virginia for thirty-nine years with thirty-seven of those years at Norfolk State University. The two prior years were with the State Department of Education in Richmond, VA. She received an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Secretarial Science from Southside Virginia Community College, Alberta, Virginia in 1971. Mrs. Bennett is a member of the NSU Association of Educational Office Professionals.
Kimberly E. Gaymon
Financial Services Specialist I
Mrs. Gaymon serves as the Financial Services Specialist I in the Office of the President. Her responsibilities include financial accounting, tracking correspondences, conference room scheduling and maintaining business and community databases.
Prior to her appointment in April 2004, Mrs. Gaymon was employed by NSU’s Center for Entrepreneurship. She is a member of the NSU Association of Educational Office Professionals.
