The mission of the Department of Procurement Services is to serve Norfolk State University community by providing value-added procurement, timely acquisition of goods and services, and effective surplus property administration needed to carry out the University mission of teaching, research, and public service.
Support is provided by:
- Ensuring the entire procurement cycle (involving purchase and payment activities) is performed in a manner that demonstrates our continuous dedication to providing excellent customer service.
- Effectively satisfies the needs of the end-user. o Promoting positive vendor relations through diversity in expenditures and timely payment of invoices.
- Developing and fostering business relationships with DMBE certified small, minority, and women-owned businesses.
- Achieving cost savings through effective use of procurement methodologies/principles and streamlining administrative operations. o Seeking more efficient and innovative ways to conduct public administrative activities, while complying with all applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
