The Department of Secondary Education and School Leadership in the School of Education at Norfolk State University seeks to address the professional development needs of both in-service and pre-service educators. The department historically has focused its attention on those educational issues germane to the urban experience; however, in this rapidly changing age of information, Secondary Education and School Leadership has in the last few years expanded its purview and globalized its perspective.
The intent is to provide our students with the kind of broad-based learning experiences that engender dispositions and habitudes of excellence, equity, and most importantly leadership in Virginia's P-12 schools and classrooms which objectives serve as a framework through which the Department of Secondary Education and School Leadership operationalizes the preparation of competent, compassionate, collaborative, and committed school leaders.
