NSU Student Selected as UVA Fellow
Norfolk, Va.— Olivia Cheatham, a Norfolk State University English major, has been selected by the University of Virginia as a summer fellow. Cheatham is the recipient of a 2007-08 Virginia Historically Black Colleges and Universities Summer Language Institute Fellowship. The selection is based on Cheatham’s academic accomplishments and nomination by faculty at Norfolk State.
The fellowship consists of $5,000 that will cover Cheatham’s tuition, comprehensive fees, room, meals and incidentals during the nine-week Summer Language Institute. Upon successful completion of the program, she will receive a $2,000 stipend and earn 12 hours of undergraduate credit.
