Second Annual Women’s Empowerment Conference to be Held Sept. 28 at
Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.
Norfolk, Va.—Norfolk State University’s Virginia Beach Higher Education
Center will host Women Achieving With Excellence: Challenges, Choices
and Careers, an annual conference dedicated to women on Tuesday, Sept.
28 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Center is located at 1881 University
Drive in Virginia Beach.
The conference will focus on professionalism, empowerment, sisterhood
and day-to-day challenges that women face. It will feature a series of
workshops blending with networking opportunities. Participants will
learn about women’s health issues, meeting today’s challenges, building
self esteem, and a host of other topics.
Keynote speakers include Barbara Ciara, managing editor and evening news
anchor at WTKR-TV 3; Dr. Lisa Price Stevens, a specialist in internal
medicine from Amelia Internal Medicine; Lindsay Gibson, author and
clinical psychologist at Lakeside Psychological Center; and Janis
Sanchez, professor of psychology at Old Dominion University.
The cost of the conference, which includes a continental breakfast,
lunch and conference material, is $100. Optional personal pampering
sessions will include manicures, mini shoulder and neck massages, hand
and arm exfoliating massage treatments, and facials which will be
available throughout the lunch break for a nominal fee.
