Gwen Ifill, PBS Moderator & Managing Editor of Washington Week, to Speak at NSU April 3
Norfolk, Va.—Gwen Ifill, a PBS moderator and managing editor of Washington Week, and senior correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, will speak at Norfolk State University, for the AMERIGROUP Leaders Forum. Her talk, which is free and open to the public, will begin at
11 a.m., Thursday, April 3 at the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts
Center.
Last year, Norfolk State University received a $50,000 grant from the AMERIGROUP Foundation to fund a Leaders Forum in the School of Business. Ifill is the second distinguished speaker in the forum. Her appearance at Norfolk State is courtesy of WHRO, the local PBS affiliate.
Before coming to PBS, Ifill came into many living rooms as one of NBC’s most visible correspondents during the 1990s, covering Congress, the White House and the federal government. Her reports appeared on NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Today, Meet the Press and MSNBC. She also covered national and local affairs for The Washington Post, Baltimore Evening Sun and Boston Herald American.
A native of New York City and graduate of Simmons College in Boston, Ifill has also received eight honorary degrees. She serves on the board of the Harvard Institute of Politics and the University of Maryland’s Phili Merrill College of Journalism.
