Norfolk State University's WNSB 91.1 FM Takes Top Award in College Radio Station Competition

Norfolk, Va.— Hitmakers Magazine, a magazine geared to top 40 radio stations and the music industry, has named Norfolk State University’s WNSB 91.1 FM as the recipient of Virginia’s Top College Radio Station award. WNSB 91.1 FM is a unit of the School of Liberal Arts and its mission is to educate and train students in radio production. WNSB’s format is mainly rhythm and blues, but also features blues, oldies, gospel, reggae, news and public affairs programming that reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of its audience.

"It is our purpose to honor those people in the area who have put Virginia on the map musically. This award is well deserved and it is only fitting that your station be honored in this fashion," said Sharilynne Neely, chief executive officer of KIS Media Group.

The awards presentation will take place at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at the Ntelos Pavilion Harbor Center in Portsmouth. For more information, contact the office of News and Media relations at 757-823-8373.
