Financing Your Education

I have chosen to attend Norfolk State University, What steps should I take to finance my education?

1

Tuition & Fee Schedule
Review the Tuition and Fee schedule for the semester you plan to attend and calculate your school expenses.

2

Review Resources
If you have not already done so, go to the Department of Education webpage to download:

3

Meet with Guidance Counselor & Search for Scholarships
Meet with your high school guidance counselor to discuss applications for local and private scholarships. Also visit financial aid's webpage for additional scholarships.

4

Apply Online, FASFA & SAR
Complete the Admission application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form required by Norfolk State University.  Review the Student Aid Report (SAR) for corrections before submitting to Norfolk State University. Inaccuracies could delay your financial aid award.  In order to avoid delays and having to wait in lines, early completion of both the admissions and financial aid application processes is strongly encouraged. The priority deadline for the FAFSA form is March 15, 2007.

5

Award Letter
Review your award letter.  Please understand that your financial aid packet may not cover the total cost of tuition.  Please be prepared to pay the remaining balance by the last day to pay or make financial arrangements. To avoid delay of your award, complete and return any forms requested by the University (i.e. Parent or student W2, Household/College Verification Form, etc.).

6

Financial Aid Process & Deadlines
Please make an effort to start the financial aid process early every year. Make note of deadlines to avoid lines...

7

Have a wonderful semester!
