Did You Know?  

  • That Philadelphia is the city where the Constitution was written?
  • That James Madison is considered the father of the U. S. Constitution?
  • That the first three words of the Constitution are We The People…?
  • That the Fifth Amendment protects against double jeopardy/self incrimination/right to a grand jury/due process/compensation for private property taken for public use?
  • That the three branches of the federal government are Legislative, Executive and Judicial?
  • That the U. S. Constitution states that the government derives its power from the consent of the governed?
  • May 1787, 6 of the 55 American Founding Fathers who were delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia were from Virginia. They were John Blair, James Madison, George Mason, James McClurg, Edmund Randolph, George Washington (1st President) and George Wythe.
  • 3 of the 39 “Signers of the Constitution” were from Virginia and they were John Blair, James Madison and George Washington, who became the first President of the United States.
